Refining
of petroleum products, based in companies throughout
Europe.
KPI's profile varies from country to country, with
strong market shares in
Denmark,
Italy,
the
Benelux countries, and in
Sweden
through its OKQ8 joint venture. France, Germany and
Spain all represent new and rapidly growing
interests.
Most of the 4,000 plus
Retail
Service Stations operate under the distinctive
Q8 logo.
A second retail operation,
International Diesel Service (IDS), provides
long distance hauliers with diesel through more than
700 outlets across Europe.
KPI’s
Direct business supplies an extensive range of
petroleum products to meet the many and diverse
requirements of private users and industry.
Q8Oils manufacture
and market lubricants for a vast range of end uses
and applications, across all market sectors. These
products include over 1600 lubricants, which are
produced at the 4 lubes blending plants owned by
KPI.
KPI also supplies aviation fuel to many of the
world's major airports, as well as smaller regional
airports, through Kuwait
Petroleum International Aviation Company (KPIAC).
Kuwait Petroleum Research & Technology (KPRT),
based in the Netherlands, is located in Europe’s
most important port and industrial area, Europoort.
One of KPR&T‘s main responsibilities is to
develop cost effective product formulations for
lubricating oils, prime products and bitumen which
are marketed under the Q8 brand. Lubricating oil and
bitumen formulations are made using products derived
from Kuwait export crude. In this way constant
quality is assured compared to working with products
from a variety of crude oils.
New environmental regulations put particularly
heavy demands on the products. Special attention is
paid to customers needs by taking into account both
functional requirements and legislative demands.
Support is also given on Safety, Health and
Environmental issues related to handling petroleum
products.
KPR&T‘s main thrust is in applied research where
in depth investigations are carried out into future
technical requirements of petroleum products in
relation to refining processes.
Being the central technical facility, KPR&T is
responsible for all products, for quality control
procedures and for the specifications of purchased
materials.
For all these activities KPR&T has specialists in
petroleum products and refining technology, backed
by physical, analytical, chemical and performance
test laboratories equipped with modern instrumental
techniques.

Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) is involved
in refinery operations at 2 locations in Europe; at
Europoort (The Netherlands) and Milazzo (Italy).
The crude oil from Kuwait has a specific and
consistent composition and is therefore an excellent
raw material. Various processes break the crude into
fractions which are then further refined or
processed into numerous finished products like
Propane, Butane, Gasoline, Kerosene, Gas Oil/Diesel,
Sulphur, Lubricant Base Oils, Waxes and Extracts,
Fuel Oil and Bitumen. All products meet the high
standards of consumers and users in transport,
chemical, agriculture, fishing and many other
industries.
